Toronto, April 2025 — Virgin Atlantic has officially landed in Toronto, marking a celebrated return to Canada after more than a decade. The new non-stop daily service connects London Heathrow with Toronto Pearson International Airport, ushering in a fresh era of transatlantic travel.
The inaugural flight was met with excitement and signature Virgin flair, as Virgin Group founder Richard Branson personally welcomed the crew and passengers. “I’m delighted to see Virgin Atlantic return to Toronto, a city with so much spirit and energy. With our incredible crew, exceptional service, and a strong network of partners, we can’t wait to welcome customers onboard,” said Branson.

This new route is set to carry over 165,000 passengers annually, served by the airline’s cutting-edge Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Travelers can choose from Virgin Atlantic’s renowned cabin classes – Upper Class, Premium, and Economy – all designed to offer a world-class flying experience.
Boosting Connectivity and Partnerships
Beyond just a flight, this service represents a broader expansion of Virgin Atlantic’s transatlantic network. A newly launched codeshare partnership with WestJet enables seamless onward travel from Toronto to 13 destinations across Canada, including Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Ottawa.
The collaboration doesn’t stop there – later this year, Virgin Atlantic and WestJet plan to unveil a joint loyalty program, offering enhanced benefits and rewards for Flying Club members.

Global Reach via London
This new route is not only a gateway to Canada but also a strategic link to Virgin Atlantic’s international network. With average connection times of just 1 hour and 20 minutes at London Heathrow, customers can access popular destinations in India such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. Additional onward flights to Johannesburg, Lagos, Tel Aviv, and Beirut provide global connectivity with ease.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be back in Canada,” said Juha Jarvinen, Chief Commercial Officer at Virgin Atlantic. “Toronto is a vibrant, diverse city and a key hub for both business and leisure travelers. With our growing network, enhanced service, and new partnership with WestJet, this route is a win for our customers on both sides of the Atlantic.”
