Himachal: Youth in Sanjauli celebrate Holi, pledge against drug abuse

Sanjauli, Himachal Pradesh – March 14 (ANI): The festival of Holi was celebrated with enthusiasm in Sanjauli, a town near Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. The youth gathered not only to enjoy the festival of colors but also to uphold their cultural heritage.

Amidst the lively celebrations, people danced to the beats of traditional Pahadi Nati, embracing Holi as an opportunity to honor their roots. Nisha, a local resident, highlighted the festival’s deep connection to their culture.

“We have been celebrating Holi here for many years. Young people come together on the ground, applying colors to one another and dancing. This helps keep our traditions alive while promoting our local heritage,” she said.

Many youths also took a pledge to combat the growing menace of drug abuse. Local resident Ishu Thakur emphasized the need to protect their cultural identity while fighting this issue.

“We must preserve our art, traditional festivals, and heritage. At the same time, we need to acknowledge how drug addiction is creeping into Himachal. It is crucial to take a stand against it and work towards making our state drug-free,” Ishu stated.

The government of Himachal Pradesh has taken strict measures against drug abuse, with the Governor launching an anti-drug campaign. Local youth are actively supporting this movement, urging their peers to stay away from drugs and focus on preserving their cultural identity.

Shanaya, another resident, expressed that Holi is not just about colors but also about strengthening cultural pride through traditional dance and celebrations.

Adding to the excitement, Mahi from Sanjauli highlighted the anticipation surrounding the festival. “This is an event we wait for all year. It brings everyone together, fostering unity, happiness, and pride in our heritage,” she said.

The festival was also celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm across Shimla, reinforcing the spirit of cultural preservation and social responsibility among the youth.
