Milestone Event for Indo-German MSME Partnership

Historic Indo-German Business Event Highlights Growing MSME Partnerships and First-Ever All-Women Batch

Mumbai, India — In a vibrant show of international collaboration, Mumbai recently hosted a dynamic two-day networking event as part of the Partnering in Business with Germany programme, a flagship initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). The programme, aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties between Germany and developing nations, particularly MSMEs, continues to show growing impact—especially in India.

Since its inception in 2009, the programme has empowered over 1,400 Indian managers, with more than 100 professionals participating each year. These engagements have led to a significant number of successful business collaborations between Indian and German SMEs, creating a thriving global network of innovation and entrepreneurship.

This year’s networking event gathered a host of influential stakeholders, including senior officials from BMWK, the German Embassy, the Consul General in Mumbai, implementation partners like GIZ, CII, and FICCI, along with representatives from Germany’s renowned training institutes. The agenda focused on reviewing the programme’s progress, sharing success stories, and brainstorming ideas to deepen Indo-German economic ties.

The highlight of the event was the introduction of the first-ever all-women batch of participants—marking a significant step towards gender inclusivity in international trade initiatives. Alongside them, 80 alumni from last year’s cohort also joined the deliberations, sharing their success stories and new ideas to further energize the Indo-German SME landscape.

With a strong emphasis on long-term collaboration, skill development, and innovation-driven partnerships, the Partnering in Business with Germany programme continues to serve as a vital link in connecting the ambitions of Indian entrepreneurs with the opportunities in the German economy.
